At least 10 years occupation of Iraq predicted
WASHINGTON (17 June 2007) - David Petraeus, chief officer of the US armed forces in Iraq, has predicted that the military occupation of the Mesopotamian nation will last for at least another decade and acknowledged an increase in the level of violence, according to AFP.
The high-ranking military official commented to US television that by September, when he must present a report to Congress, the problem will not be resolved and fighting between troops and insurgents is likely to last much longer.
