US woman fined over peace sign

WASHINGTON, (28 November 2006) - A Denver, Colorado woman is being fined $25 USD a day for putting a peace sign on a Christmas decoration in the front yard of her home.

Lisa Jaenes received the fine from the renter's board of the apartment complex where she lives in the Rocky Mountain state. Many of the neighbors have kids participating in the Iraq occupation.

"Peace is a much broader concept than not to be in war, peace is also a spiritual feeling," Jaenes told reporters.

Despite the protest of her neighbors, Jaenes refused to take down the Christmas decoration in her yard or pay the fine. The case may now end up in the courts. (PL)
